How do I access materials on reserve?

Electronic Reserves

Electronic, often shortened to just e-Reserves, can be found online in your courses by logging into Blackboard.

Print Reserves

Books, audio/video recordings, and other hard copy items are placed on reserve in the library by individual faculty members for the use of students enrolled in their classes. Most items will have a 2-hour loan period and must be used within the library. Faculty may request loan period/usage exceptions, however.

Items on reserve may be from Walker or another on-campus library or may belong to the faculty member who is teaching the course. All reserve items will be listed in the ACORN online catalog and can be searched by title or author.

You can also Look up Items on Reserve in ACORN to find all the reserve materials for a particular course. You can search by Instructor, Course Number, or Course Name.

Library materials will have a complete record in the system; personal copies will have a brief record containing only basic information about the publication.

A notebook containing a listing of all items currently on reserve is located at the Circulation Service Desk. Check under the tab listing the faculty member’s name to find a printout of all items he/she has on reserve for the current MOD. When requesting reserve items at the service desk, include the faculty member’s name and the title of the item.

Reserve items have a short loan period to allow everyone fair access, so it is important that these materials be returned immediately in order to avoid incurring a steep fine. Overdue charges for reserves are $1.20 per hour.
