ACORN Library CatalogACORN is the online catalog of materials owned by all the libraries at Vanderbilt. Use the catalog to find books, journals or other materials and to find out where these items are located. Through ACORN, you can see if Vanderbilt has access to an electronic version of a magazine or journal and learn which database to use to get it fulltext. Even if you don't know the title or author of a book, ACORN can be searched by subject to identify items that deal with a specific topic. [more]
Athena
Catalog of Nashville Area Library Consortium. The Athena Catalog is the shared catalog of several Nashville area libraries. A patron at any participating library can simultaneously search the library catalogs of a number of area institutions. [more]
Digital Dissertations
The Dissertation Abstracts database contains more than 1.5 million listings for doctoral dissertations and master's theses. Includes extensive coverage of North American graduate schools, with coverage of some European universities. Citations for dissertations from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author. Citations for master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Titles published since 1997 have 24 page previews available in PDF format. Vanderbilt users may purchase dissertations directly from UMI through this database; they may also borrow dissertations without charge through the Heard Library Interlibrary Loan office. [more]
Emerald
Formerly known as MCB Press, Emerald Group Publishing Limited has created this full-text searchable database of their journal titles. It contains 110 scholarly, peer-reviewed management journals from all different areas of business. The majority of the journals are available fulltext from their inception to present. [more]
JSTOR
JSTOR, The Scholarly Journal Archive, is a digital archive for major scholarly journals. The electronic backfiles begin with the first issue of each journal. The most rececent five years of published issues are not available in this database. Areas covered are the core journals in the following disciplines: Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Anthropology, Asian studies, Ecology, Education, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physical Science, Population studies, and Sociology. You can search the entire database, search selected journals, or browse the journal table of contents. [more]
Kudzu
Catalog of Vanderbilt and 15 other southeastern academic libraries. Kudzu is a consortium of southeastern research libraries featuring a catalog that enables users to search the holdings of all the member libraries (plus the Center for Research Libraries) simultaneously. Vanderbilt-affiliated patrons can place requests for materials held by the other libraries, and requested items are delivered on an expedited basis. This service makes it possible for Vanderbilt faculty, students and staff to make use of a much broader collection of library resources to supplement Heard Library's collections. [more]
Science Direct
Science Direct offers access to more than 2,000 scientific, business, technical and medical peer-reviewed journals, the majority coming from Elsevier. Academic Press is also covered by the database. You will find available fulltext articles from the journals that the libraries subscribe to as well as indexing and abstracts of non-subscribed titles. The recently added backfile of the Business collection is an invaluable archival source for business research. There are unique features that allow you to set up your own personal profiles which will enable you to save searches and create alerts for new issues. [more]
SpringerLink
SpringerLINK contains over 400 fulltext multi-disciplinary journals and books published by Springer-Verlag and other publishers. You may browse the entire list of journals and select individual titles or search the entire database. You can also browse the Online Library in Business and Economics, which contains over 100 business journals. [more]
Wiley Interscience
Provides access to publications from John Wiley and Sons, Inc. It features journals, online books and more. You will be able to identify, retrieve, download or print full text documents in the business, scientific, medical, technical and professional specialties. [more]
WorldCat
WorldCat is the OCLC Online Union Catalog, containing more than 35 million records describing items owned by U.S. libraries and libraries around the world; each record contains library holdings. It is produced by the OCLC Online Computer Library Center. [more]
