This free website provides access to the largest collection of the fulltext glossy annual reports companies prepare for current and prospective stock holders (as opposed to the 10K report which is a required filing by the SEC). The focus here is on current reports rather than historical but there is a lot of information about corporate image, branding, and the story the company wants to tell about their history and their direction for the future. You can search for reports by company name, ticker symbol, exchange, industry, and industry sector. [more]

Asia-Studies Full-text Online provide thousands of full-text reports on 53 countries. Data is provided by research institutions and includes information relating to business, government, economic, and social issues. Associations Unlimited
Here information can be found on nonprofit membership organizations in all fields. It covers major international organizations and U.S. national, regional, state, and local organizations. Entries for each organization include contact information, descriptions of the organization, number of members, budget and other information. The database allows searching by association name, acronym, keyword in name, location, subject terms, SIC codes, etc. Trade associations in particular can be a very valuable resource for data about an industry. Check their descriptions to see if the association collects statistics or if they have a library that collects data. [more]

BloombergLocate real-time and historical information on economic conditions, market data and public companies worldwide. Information is available on governments, mortgages, money markets, bonds, commodities, stocks, and currencies. This resource is used in most companies and institutions that manage equities, commodities, and currencies. Two dedicated Bloomberg terminals with full API capabilities which allow for custom downloading and creation of reports are available in the Walker Management Library and Owen Computer Lab. Online tutorials are available on the terminals and Bloomberg now offers certification in different financial management areas with tests that can be taken on the Bloomberg terminals. [more]

Business & Industry is a broad business information database that focuses on facts, figures, events and market information about companies, industries, products and markets. It covers all industries and is international in scope. B&I draws content from a large number of trade and industry publications, regional, national and international newspapers, business dailies and newsletters. This is a good database to search for recent events about a company or industry and tends to have very good coverage of marketing topics. It is also useful for finding information about regional company and industry news. [more]

Business Insights, formerly known as Reuter's Business Insight, provides market studies on 5 broad industry sectors: Consumer Goods, Energy, Finance, Healthcare, and Technology. Some reports are global while others are specific to a region. Each report, which varies in length from 50 to 200 pages, is compiled by in-house market analysts and provides forecasting to explore all major issues, threats and opportunities. The reports also provide incisive and actionable strategic recommendations. The majority of reports in this database are available for download through our subscription without additional charges. BSP provides coverage to virtually all subject areas related to business, including management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting, and international business. CCH is a leading provider of tax and business law information. This database covers the legal aspects of securities, banking, bankruptcy, international business, government contracts, products liability, and more. The Financial Markets Research Center at Vanderbilt (FMRC) provides access to this database. It is a database containing about 340 annual and 120 quarterly income statement, balance sheet, flow of funds and supplemental data items on a large number of companies. [more]

Conference Board, The
The Conference Board is a highly respected not-for-profit organization that conducts research on business management and trends. While they cover a broad range of business topics, they are well known for their annual reports on top-executive compensation and corporate giving. D&B Million Dollar DatabaseDun & Bradstreet Million Dollar Database (D&B) provides directory information on over 14 million businesses. You can search by a number of variables to identify businesses by name, industry, geographic location, number of employees, ownership structure, sales, as well as the names of the top executives. The database is useful for company research for projects but also for job prospecting. For each company, you will find the headquarters location as well as some branch, subsidiary, or division locations. To be included in this database, companies must have sales in excess of one million dollars or employ more than twenty people. Our subscription covers Domestic U.S. companies only. [more]

Digital Dissertations
The Dissertation Abstracts database contains more than 1.5 million listings for doctoral dissertations and master’s theses. Includes extensive coverage of North American graduate schools, with coverage of some European universities. Citations for dissertations from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author. Citations for master’s theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Titles published since 1997 have 24 page previews available in PDF format. Vanderbilt users may purchase dissertations directly from UMI through this database; they may also borrow dissertations without charge through the Heard Library Interlibrary Loan office. [more]

EconLit is a comprehensive, indexed bibliography with selected abstracts of the world’s economic literature, produced by the American Economic Association. EDGAR
This is the free database of public company filings collected by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Find the full-text of company annual 10-K reports, quarterly 10-Q reports, proxy statements, prospectus, etc.. The EDGAR Archive allows you to find filings for companies from 1994-present. Filings prior to 1994 are not available in electronic format, but may be purchased by contacting the Public Reference Room at the SEC. EIU Country Data
EIU Country Data (through the Economist Intelligence Unit) is a source of economic indicators and forecasts providing data series on economic structure, foreign payments, external debt stock, external debt service, external trade, trends in foreign trade, and quarterly indicators. The data covers 115 countries with extensive data - over 700,000 data points -- with most data going back to 1980 with forecasts several years in the future. This directory includes 550,000 companies in 35 European countries. FactivaFactiva is a multi-functional database. It is primarily used to find the full-text of business publications, including magazines, trade publications, and newspapers. It has full-text coverage of the Wall Street Journal. It is a good source for international and local business news, which typically isn't covered in other databases. FAOSTAT
FAOSTAT is a free online multilingual database currently containing over 1 million time-series records covering international statistics in the following areas: production, trade, food balance sheets, fertilizer and pesticides, land use and irrigation, forest products, fishery products, population, agricultural machinery and food aid shipments. Run by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAOSTAT is currently the world’s largest and most comprehensive statistical database on food and agriculture. [more]

Global Development Finance Online
GDF Online has external debt and financial flow data for the 136 countries that report public and publicly-guaranteed debt to the World Bank's Debtor Reporting System. The time series for 218 indicators run from 1970 to 2000, with contractual obligations data until 2010. The indicators include external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructurings, and scheduled debt service projections. Contains complete bibliographic data as well as author abstracts for approximately 70% of the articles in the sciences and 65% of the articles in the social sciences since 1992. Each citation also includes a list of references cited in the source article. It is possible to retrieve a list of works that have cited a specific author or a specific earlier work.
