What are the library's hours?
- Hours are listed under the section of the homepage called About the Library. They change during holidays, exam times, and over the summer, so be sure to look at the exceptions.
What resources are there for alumni?
- There are many resources available for Alumni. See the Alumni Services page for more information.
Can I use my cell phone in the library?
- We ask that you are considerate when in the library. Please refrain from making calls, and please set your cell phone to silent or vibrate prior to entering. We know that your calls are important, but a little respect for your studying colleagues goes a long way.

Can I eat or drink in the library?
- Drinks in covered containers are permitted, as well as soft drinks in cans. Snacks are permitted, but not meals. Please be considerate of your colleagues and clean up after yourself.

How do I renew books?
- You can renew books in person at the Service Desk or online by logging into your account.
Is there a Lost & Found in the library?
- Yes, there is a Lost & Found. Inquire at the Service Desk or contact library staff.
How much does it cost to photocopy something?
- It costs $.10/page to use the photocopiers. More info can be found here.
How do I print to the color printer?
- You first must add the color printer, named Whitney_Color, if it's not already on your laptop. Once you add it, go ahead and print your file unless you require special paper or a transparency. You can pick it up and pay for it at the Service Desk in the library. Color printing is $.50/page.

The color printer is down! Where else can I print in color?
- When the color printer is inoperable, there are a few options. The Science & Engineering Library (closest location) and the Peabody Library have color printers. There is also a Campus Copy Center in Rand Hall, and a Kinko's on West End across from Kirkland Hall. You can even send your print job to Kinko's online!
What is VUprint?
- VUprint is a pay-for-printing system implemented on the Vanderbilt University campus that charges users for their printing. More information can be found on the VUprint wiki.
- It is installed on all the public computers in the library.
- Current members of the Owen community are not charged when they authenticate their print job with their VUnet ID and Password, whereas other users are charged $.04/page. Color printing is $.50/page for everyone.
Is the library wireless?
- Yes. The library, as well as the rest of OGSM, is fully covered with 802.11 a/b/g wireless.
Whom do I talk to if I have computer problems?
- Library staff at the Service Desk are able to help with some problems. If it's a networking or hardware problem, contact Owen ITS in the computer lab on the 2nd Floor of Owen during normal work hours. Will Hare is the person to contact.
Does the library have any plugins for Firefox?
- Yes, it does! Visit the Heard Library Test Pilot site which showcases contemplated and proposed additions to the Jean and Alexander Heard Library production environment.
How do I use Bloomberg?
- There are 2 terminals - one in the library and one in the computer lab on the 2nd Floor of Owen. An online tutorial is available on the Bloomberg page, but some of your colleagues may already be familiar with Bloomberg and might be willing to help you.

How do I access databases from off campus?
- Easy! You will need your Owen ID and password for most things, but some of the resources you will need your VUnet ID and password to access it from off campus.
- The Troubleshooting Tips page should be helpful is you have trouble accessing anything.
Can I have SDC or Datastream installed on my laptop or in my office?
- Owen Graduate School of Management faculty can have these resources installed on their office computers that are owned by Vanderbilt. As part of the SDC and Datastream licenses, the resources may not be installed on personal computers. Contact the librarians if you have questions or need one or both of these installed.

Where do I find the Career Management Center's company files?
- They are on the 1st Floor of the library, along the back wall in the big filing cabinet next to the photocopiers.
Do you have current and former Owen student resumes?
- Yes! They are on the 1st Floor of the library, on the back side of the bookcase near the photocopiers.
Where can I find information on previous Owen student internships?
- The library maintains copies of feedback forms completed by students participating in Summer Internships between first and second years. These are collected by the Career Management Center and kept for many years in the Owen publications section of the Library, which is on the 1st Floor on the back side of the bookcase near the photocopiers.
How do I suggest the library purchase a resource?
- You may request that the library purchase a book, subscription, database, audio book, DVD or other types of materials by contacting a librarian. Purchases will be made if funds are available and if the item meets the criteria of the library's collection policy. Use this online form.

- You can find out when a new issues of an electronic journal is available in one of the electronic journal aggregators like IngentaConnect or SpringerLink. To create, go to the Alert Services & RSS Feeds page.
