Access & Borrowing Privileges
Individuals who qualify for library reading or reading AND borrowing privileges in all libraries of the Jean and Alexander Heard Library system include:
- Vanderbilt faculty, students, and staff
- Spouses, domestic partners and dependents of current Vanderbilt faculty, students, and staff
- Vanderbilt alumni
- Emeritus Vanderbilt faculty
- Vanderbilt staff retirees
- Contact Julie Blagojevich in the Office of the University Librarian to arrange library privileges, 615-343-7236.
- Businesses that hold Corporate Affiliate membership to the Walker Management Library's Business Information Service (BIS)
- Other groups who are associated with Vanderbilt as identified in
the Jean
and Alexander Heard Library Access Policy
- The policy includes information for Fisk University, Sewanee University, NALA Libraries, and other user categories in detail
ID Cards for Access
Vanderbilt ID cards or Alumni cards are generally required for library access and borrowing privileges. They are issued in the Commodore Card Office. Call 615-322-CARD or visit Room 184 of the Sarratt Student Center. Card Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:00 pm, with occasional extended evening hours. It's always best to call before going there.
Funds can be added to the card, in person at the Card Office or online, and these funds can be used for printing in the libraries and in various vending locations around campus.
Hours of Access
Owen Graduate School of Management doors are locked at 5:00 pm for security, and only current members of the Owen community may access by card swipe. Check Walker Management Library hours before visiting. View other Vanderbilt Library hours here.
Access for Users with No Affiliation to Vanderbilt
Persons whose research needs are not met by other libraries may purchase an Access Card to get reading and use privileges for $20/year. These privileges will allow users to enter and use the resources in that library, but not check-out any resources. Visit the Service Desk in the Walker Management Library (or in any of the Vanderbilt Libraries) to complete the form required for obtaining an Access Card.
